Jake Norton
Trainer / Tutor
Jake studied at Liverpool John Moores University, BA Hons Drama, and then trained in physical theatre at Hope Street. He is a lecturer at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). Jake has enjoyed performing and teaching in a diverse range of theatrical genres and forms throughout the UK, Sweden, Zambia, Spain and Mexico.
His extensive theatre credits include: Treasure Island (The Dukes Theatre Lancaster), Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet and Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, (Bolton Octagon), The Homecoming and Arquiem (Periplum UK Tour), The Bells, Dr Calgary, Random Oracle, Exposure, Bram Stoker’s Nightmare and The Dark Room (Unity Theatre, Liverpool), Kes (Oldham Coliseum), Eight Miles High (Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool), Twelfth Night (Stafford Gatehouse Theatre), Jack And The Beanstalk and Wannabe (Liverpool Everyman).He has also recorded several plays for BBC Radio 4.
TV and film credits include: Coronation Street (ITV Granada), The Bill (Talkback Thames), Emmerdale and The Royal Today (ITV Yorkshire), The Pilot of The Unknown Stuntman (E4) and Hollyoaks (Lime Pictures), The Violators and Powder (Red Union Films), Salvage (Hoax Productions), The Edge Of Empire (Dene Films), The Meeting (North West Vision).
He was a co-founder of the Horror ensemble theatre group ‘Ullaloom Theatre Company’ in 2001. In 2012 he travelled to Zambia to work with ‘Barefeet Theatre’, where he designed a physical theatre devising programme that the company teach to residential international students. His directing credits for LIPA, Liverpool John Moores University and the Liverpool Media Academy include Made in Dagenham, Rent, Ivanov, Madame Tellier’s Establishment, Teechers, Jamaica Inn and Perfume.
