Admito que hay algo acerca de las antiguas expediciones botánicas que me vuelve loco, tal vez sea el hecho de que una de las expediciones más grandes de todos los tiempos se hizo en Colombia y he visto esas láminas en muchos lugares mientras crecía allí. No puedo imaginar lo excitante que puede ser observar algo por primera vez y tener el tiempo para documentarlo. Siento una conexión entre esas expediciones y mi pasión por entender las cosas que me rodean a través del dibujo. Esa es una de las razones por las que decidí inspirarme en esas antiguas ilustraciones para hacer las mías sobre las plantas y las frutas que habitualmente uso. I have to admit there is something about the old Botanical Expeditions that drives me crazy, may be the fact that one of the most amazing expedition occurred in Colombia and I've seen those illustrations in many places while I was growing up there. I just can't imagine how excited the feeling of watching something for the first time could be and have the time to document it. I feel a connection between those expeditions and my passion for understanding what is around me through drawing it. That is one of the reasons I decided to recreate those old Botanical illustrations with the sketches I use to make about the plants and fruits I use the most.
