Writing for Film is an intermediate level course aimed at people with some writing experience.
Explore the craft of screenwriting with one of the UK’s most experienced TV and film writers.
Led by Tony Lindsay – whose credits include The Bill, Casualty, Holby City, and London’s Burning – this 10-week intermediate course focuses on the essential tools of writing for film: structure, scene construction, cinematic characterisation, and dialogue that lives on screen.
Tony has worked in development with BBC, Sony Pictures, LWT and SMG, and written feature films for leading producers including the late Nik Powell. With over 25 years of experience teaching screenwriting at Salford University, Manchester University and more, his sessions offer both industry insight and practical development.
This course is ideal for:
· Writers with some previous experience (including MAD’s “Writing for Performance” graduates)
· Anyone aiming to write for screen or develop their own feature film script
· Theatre writers looking to transition into screenwriting
You’ll leave with a better understanding of how to shape ideas into compelling cinematic stories – and practical next steps to keep going. Over the course of ten weeks, you will develop your writing skills focusing on structure, scenes, dialogue, and characterisation. This course is suitable for those who have completed our Writing for Performance courses or have equivalent experience from elsewhere. Former students have gone on to be involved in The Everyman Writers course.
